Car Trailer Rope: A Soft Connected Rescue Core

Trailer rope is the most common and basic equipment in off-road rescue. A qualified towing rope, when used correctly, can safely tow a trapped vehicle out; A poor quality trailer rope or incorrect operation may cause serious injury. This article provides a detailed explanation of the reasons for selection and usage methods.
Why choose professional towing ropes
Elastic cushioning to protect vehicles: Professional trailer ropes are woven with high-strength nylon or polyester fibers, providing controllable elasticity. When dragging, it can absorb instantaneous impact, convert rigid tension into progressive traction, and protect the trailer hook and frame of both vehicles.
Soft connection, safe and controllable: Compared with steel wire ropes or trailer poles, trailer ropes are lighter in weight, do not harm hands, and are less likely to generate sparks. When broken, it will not rebound violently like a steel wire rope, and using damping materials can minimize the risk.
Easy to carry and quickly deploy: The high-quality trailer rope can be folded and stored in the accompanying bag, occupying little space. Expanding the connection only takes a few minutes and is one of the most efficient rescue equipment.
Types and selection of trailer ropes
Elastic trailer rope: made of nylon material with an elongation of 10% -20%, suitable for most vehicle to vehicle rescue operations. The best buffering effect is suitable for scenes that require gentle force, such as mud, snow, grass, etc.
Low elongation trailer rope: made of polyester fiber material with an elongation of 3% -8%, suitable for sand rescue. Excessive elasticity can cause the trapped car to jump and move, which is actually detrimental to getting out of the predicament.
Core usage method
The use of trailer ropes follows the four step method of "inspection, connection, hanging, and pulling".
Step 1: Check
Before each use, unfold the entire length of the trailer rope and check for cuts, wear, knots, hardening, or chemical corrosion. Focus on the connection between the soft eye and the rope body, which is the most concentrated area of force. If any damage is found, it should be scrapped immediately.
Step 2: Connect
Use forged alloy steel D-shaped shackles to connect trailer ropes. Fully unscrew the shackle pin, insert the soft eye of the trailer rope into the shackle body, then thread the pin through the shackle and screw it into the vehicle trailer hook. The shackle must be fully tightened and the threads must be fully engaged.
Connection point confirmation: It must be connected to the original trailer hook or beam specific anchor point of the vehicle. It is absolutely prohibited to connect to the bumper, suspension arm, spare tire rack or welded parts.
Step 3: Set damping
Hang heavy clothing, foot mats, or specialized damping bags in the center of the trailer rope. This is a key measure to prevent breakage and rebound - once the trailer rope breaks, the damping material can cause the rope to fall and absorb most of the rebound energy.
Step 4: Apply force and drag
All personnel evacuate to 30 meters away from both sides of the trailer rope. The rescue vehicle is attached to low-speed four-wheel drive and slowly starts until the towing rope is slightly taut. Apply sustained and steady force, gradually pulling the trapped car using elasticity. Strictly prohibit rushing and pulling. After the stuck car starts dragging, lightly press the accelerator to keep the direction straight.
