When crossing uninhabited areas or long-distance off-road, the distance between gas stations may exceed the range of one tank of fuel. The off-road oil tank is the core equipment to solve this problem, which allows exploration to go further. But the high flammability of gasoline determines that the use of oil drums must strictly comply with safety regulations.

Types and selection of off-road fuel tanks

Metal fuel tank: made of traditional iron sheet or aluminum alloy material, sturdy and resistant to impact, with good heat dissipation, and can be stored for a long time. The classic shape is flat square, which is easy to bundle and fix. The disadvantage is that it is heavy and may rust internally.

Plastic fuel tank: made of high-density polyethylene or military grade plastic material, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and does not produce sparks. The barrel material is mixed with conductive components to prevent static sparks caused by fuel flow. Transparent or semi transparent barrel body facilitates observation of oil level.

Capacity selection: Common specifications include 10L, 20L, and 30L. 10L is suitable for short distance backup, 20L is the mainstream choice (adding about 200-300 kilometers of range), and 30L is heavier and inconvenient to transport. It is recommended to carry no more than two 20L oil drums to distribute the weight.
