It is particularly important to master the use of the car traction board when the car is stuck in sand, mud, or snow. The following are specific steps and precautions:
1. Preparation work
Park and shift to neutral: Stop stepping on the accelerator to avoid the wheels spinning and sinking deeper.
Clean the area around the tire: Use your hands or tools to dig open the soft sand in front and behind the tire to reduce resistance.
Reduce tire pressure (optional): If the sand is extremely soft, the tire pressure can be appropriately reduced to increase the tire contact area, but it needs to be inflated in a timely manner after getting out of trouble.
2. Place the traction board
Position selection: Place the traction board tightly in front (forward direction) or behind (when reversing) of the tire stuck in the sand, ensuring that the board is fully in contact with the tire contact surface.
Angle adjustment: If the ground is inclined, the traction board can be slightly raised to form a gentle slope to help the tires climb out.
Fixed board: Ensure that the traction board is stable and avoid being pushed away by the tire (it can be partially buried in sand or pressed down with heavy objects).
3. Slowly drive the vehicle
Low speed and constant speed: Shift into low gear or activate four-wheel drive mode, lightly press the accelerator, and maintain a constant speed forward.
Avoid sudden acceleration: Stepping on the accelerator forcefully can cause the wheels to spin or fly off the traction board.
Cooperate with the steering wheel: slightly turn the steering wheel left and right to help the tires grip the traction board.
4. Operation after getting out of trouble
Recycling the traction board: Stop the vehicle immediately after driving out and remove the traction board to avoid being left behind.
Restore tire pressure: If the tire pressure has been reduced before, it should be inflated to the normal value in a timely manner.
5. Precautions
Trapped on both wheels: If both coaxial wheels are trapped, traction board need to be placed under both tires at the same time.
Cooperate with shovel: If the sand is too deep, you can clean it with a shovel first and then place the traction board.
Backup plan: If there is no traction board, temporary alternatives such as wooden boards, carpets, stones, etc. can be tried (but the effect may be poor).
6. Prevent getting stuck in the car again
Maintain speed: When driving in sandy terrain, maintain a constant speed and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.
Choose a route: Drive along ruts or hard surfaces as much as possible, avoiding soft sand dunes.
By correctly using the escape board and patiently operating it, most sand trap problems can be solved. If multiple attempts still fail to escape, it is recommended to call for rescue to avoid further damage to the vehicle.
